Review

Taskbar Shuffle is a simple and handy application that enables you to rearrange the taskbar buttons and system tray icons by simply dragging and dropping them. Version 2.2 includes support for Windows Vista and doesn't store its settings in registry anymore. This version features several improvements and bugs fixes including the ‘ghosted’ button behind taskbar in Vista, the disabled quick launch button problem in Windows 2000, among others. It also adds a user agreement and a disable auto-update. The program does not have a formal user interface, since all you have to do is drag the taskbar buttons to the left or right to reach the optimal alignment. There's only a small icon on the system tray that enables you to customize its settings. The utility can be set to start with your operating system so that you don't have to activate it every time you start your computer. The program allows you to group similar taskbar buttons and set it to close them with mouse middle-clicks. You can do the same with your system tray icons, with the only difference that you'll have to use additional hot keys for this which include Ctrl, Shift, Alt and Windows (left and right side of the keyboard). It would be great if it included more options like being able to arrange the buttons in a group or hiding certain taskbar buttons or system tray icons.
Advantages
  • Easy to use.
  • Totally integrated with the operating system.
  • Non-intrusive.
  • Runs on low computer resources.
Disadvantages
  • You cannot set your own hotkeys to arrange system tray elements.

Very nice and easy. Install, runs in systray, and begin moving/sorting applications listed in the taskbar or systray. I wish there were a way to ALWAYS have certain applications sort in a specific order. For a free and easy to use application, this one is nice.
